Reflection Canyon, Glen Canyon National Recreation Area Backpacking Guide
The backpacking trip to Reflection Canyon is a remote backcountry route that leads to an iconic Southern Utah viewpoint at the edge of Lake Powell. The hike is a 15.2 mile out and back through sandy, low-laying brush and slickrock terrain with 1,510 ft of elevation gain. The lookout is one of Utah’s most striking landscapes where the blue waters of Lake Powell swirl around two rock formations under the towering orange canyon walls. Campsites offer a bird’s eye view of the winding water - a sight to behold, especially when the sun bursts over the canyon walls in the early morning. The trailhead is located 50 miles down a rugged, washboard road which is an adventure all of it's own. The trip is rated difficult due to exposure to the elements, off-trail navigation and lack of water sources. This is a beautiful trip for experienced backpackers to enjoy in spring or fall when temperatures are more moderate.
