Ediza and Iceberg Lakes, Inyo National Forest Backpacking Guide
Ediza and Iceberg Lakes are two of the most beautiful lakes in the Eastern Sierra. Both lakes have spectacular views of Mount Ritter, Banner Peak and the Minarets - a series of jagged picturesque peaks in the Ritter Range. Ediza Lake is wrapped by lush green meadows and Shadow Creek, the cascading creek flowing into and out of the lake. Iceberg Lake is tucked into a bowl of towering granite, sitting below the spires of the Minarets. At sunrise, the high summits soaring above the lakes reflect into the azure waters below - a true sight to behold. Visiting these lakes is truly like stepping into a dream world.
The backpacking trip is 16.8 miles and is best completed over 3 days to allow time to enjoy both lakes. The trip is considered moderate difficulty - it is a well worn trail with a few easily passable rocky sections and multiple creek crossings. There is a 2,495 ft elevation gain over the course of the trip.
